We had a blessed week at St. Margaret’s: the relics of Blessed Carlo Acutis, and Saint Manuel Gonzalez Garcia, and the display of the Eucharistic Miracles. Mrs. Eileen Wood spoke about Blessed Carlo last Sunday and today at 3:00 PM; she will conclude the exhibit with a talk about Saint Manuel.
Our children from the PREP and the Middle School of St. Margaret School were given an excellent talk and shown a video about the life of Blessed Carlo. The relics were explained and the children were blessed with Blessed Carlo relics.
I would like to thank Eileen Beirne, our parishioner, who arranged for this exhibit, her hard work in organizing the exhibit, and talking to our children about Blessed Carlo. I would also like to thank all the volunteers who helped at the exhibit.
I hope many of you had the chance to stop by and see what this young man did in compiling this exhibit about the miracles from the different countries of the world that took place concerning the Eucharist. If you haven’t seen the exhibit, please stop by after Mass until 3:00PM Sunday.
The Sacrament of Confirmation
Please pray for our young parishioners who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation in the next three weeks. This Thursday the students from St. Margaret School will be confirmed, and the following Fridays will be our PREP students. We ask God the Holy Spirit to come to them in the fullest way and enkindle in them the fire of love for God and His Church.
Eucharistic Revival
Last Saturday at the Marian Shrine the Rockland County Eucharistic Revival took place. Those who attended the ceremonies were very pleased with the procession, the music and the talk. In spite of the threat of rain, God kept the raindrops up in Heaven with Him and we were grateful. The Eucharistic Revival will continue in our parishes through the year.
Respect Life Month
Since 1972, the Catholic Church observed October, the month of Our Lady of the Rosary, as Respect Life Month. This month is marked with devotions and prayers to advance and change peoples’ hearts about the inestimable value of human life, from conception to natural death.
Even though we have made great strides in protecting life, there is so much more to do. Respect for human life is deteriorating, we see that in the increase of violence and murders in our country, the disrespect to our elderly, the way our children treat one another, to the point of driving some to suicide. So we ask Our Lady who brought forth the Life and Light to our world to sustain us and to help us defend the beauty of life.
