God has placed great emphasis on the important role of fathers. Our Lord used fathers in many of His parables and preaching. There is a reason why Jesus called God, father, and not mother or not parent. A mother’s role is distinct and different than that of a father, like marriage male and female compliment and complete one another; motherhood and fatherhood compliment and complete each other and the family.
And of all the roles and jobs that a father fulfills, the single most important job a father can do for his children, I think, is to introduce your children to the Lord. Everything else you do for them will eventually end, but their relationship with God will last for eternity.
And the best way to help your children become people of faith is to let them see it in you. You need to be the best role model you can be. You need to live your life rightly, so that your children learn to do the same.
Your greatest work is not building a business, or giving your child everything that you didn’t have. Your greatest work is molding another Christian. Letting them see in you the things that make a good father: a man of virtue and faith, a pillar of strength, a protector.
Have your children remember the things you did for them and how you taught them to be noble and true, and good Christian people, so they can do the same things and teach the same things to their children as well.
In our society today, fatherhood is thought by some as not needed. But studies after studies have concluded the importance of the father’s role in the physical, cognitive, socio-emotional and spiritual development of their children.
A child needs both parents. We need strong fathers now more than ever.
Our Father in heaven, and our fathers here on earth—as well as society that values them, includes them and encourages them to be involved.
Congratulations
Although very different this year, we congratulate all our young parishioners who have been graduated from their respective schools. Last Friday, the 8
th grade from our school had their Mass and ceremony in Church. Our Pre-K and Kindergarten students and parents had their celebrations in the parking lot. The teachers and Mrs. Maldonado, our Principal, did a very fine job in making the ceremonies as nice and meaningful as possible in spite of the great limitations
